“I swear it’s not a disease. It’s just a game of pretend.”

Definitely Delusional

‘Oh thank god; there’s Temari.’ That was the thought passing through the pinkette’s head as she spotted the familiar blonde waving to her in front of an Inn. She sped up, passing Sasuke as she went. She wanted to get to Temari and as far away from Sasuke as humanly possible for at least a little bit. She still had a day and a half worth of travel with the traitor and she felt she deserved alone time – especially after that awkward display of affection. Maybe he had just been tired? Yeah, he was dehydrated and probably delusional at that point. This was the millionth time she had repeated that mantra to herself and she still was unconvinced. But how much easier would life be if it were the truth?

Sakura reached the blonde in record time before being swallowed in a tight hug. Temari had missed her after all; they didn’t get to see each other often. The pinkette’s smile quickly faded when she felt the presence of the Uchiha come to a halt just behind her and to the right. It was almost as if he enjoyed making her uncomfortable. ‘I’ll just ignore him for now.’

“Temari, I missed your face! That and the way that you can glare Shikamaru into submission. I usually end up having to use force.” The pinkette chuckled.

The blonde’s smile had disappeared from her face as soon as she had noticed the Uchiha behind Sakura. She knew that Sakura was supposed to have some sort of “escort” – because, in all fairness, Tsunade was rather paranoid when it came to the pinkette – but she hadn’t been expecting to see the traitor of all people; maybe Hatake or that strange artist, Sai; but never in her wildest musing had she imagined it to be Sasuke. The sand kunoichi forced a smile on her face and glanced back to Sakura in order to respond, “I missed you too Sakura. And,” the blonde raised an eyebrow and continued in a sly tone, “so has Gaara. Apparently he misses your interactions.”

The pinkette controlled herself enough to not outright blush but she also couldn’t meet Temari’s eyes. If she did her hard won control over the blood that wanted to rush to her cheeks would shatter and – Sakura was pretty sure – she’d turn beet red. She did, however, have a faint smile at the news. Knowing that the Kazekage had actually missed her, well that made her happier than she cared to admit.

Someone cleared their throat from behind the pinkette and she felt her smile become a prominent frown. She knew that Sasuke probably wanted to complete this mission as fast as possible – there being no love lost between him and Gaara after all – but that didn’t mean that she wasn’t allowed to have a bit with one of her friends. Hell, she was the only friend that Sakura didn’t actually have to hide her emotions from. Temari may worry about Sakura and want her happy, but she never pushed her to talk about anything and respected that Sakura herself needed to handle whatever it was that was going on in her head.

The pinkette looked up and finally locked eyes with the blonde – who wore the same expression of utter irritation – before finally turning to face the ebony haired man behind her.

“Is there something that you need Uchiha?” Temari bit out before Sakura even had the chance to open her mouth.

Sasuke ignored the blond and kept his eyes locked on the pinkette’s form before saying, “We should stay here for the night. We can leave in the morning.”

Stay here, overnight, with him? She would have loved to laugh at his idiocy, but he was right. It would be safest to stay at the Inn for the night; no matter how much she would have preferred to keep going. The pinkette sighed. This was going to be one long fucking night.
